Driving is one activity many of us take for granted and oftentimes we forget that there are many people out there who don't have the luxury of getting behind the wheel of a car. Those who suffer from blindness and deafness are typically neglected in the driving world, but thanks to a special event recently held in Poland many individuals with these disabilities got the chance to drive a vehicle with a little assistance.
In an effort to break down automotive barriers disabled individuals often face, a one-of-a-kind motorsport competition catering to the deaf and blind was recently held at a Poland airport. Locals with various levels of impairment entered the exclusive race, which put them in the driver's seat with a little help from a co-driver. Using a series of taps to the knee, the co-driver was able to navigate each driver through the course. Depending on whether a participant was blind or deaf, each driver was also given either a blindfold or headphones to make the competition fair for all.
With only two days to practice before the race, each participant was able to quickly gain confidence on the course and successfully completed each lap with ease. To see how well everyone did and find out who came out on top in the end, you can watch the full video here.
